Thank you, John, for your great gardening videos and your comments on living a life where good is expected and noticed! The videos are the best on the web that I’ve seen. I live in NE Ohio, about 1/2 mile from Lake Erie in hardiness zone 6b. I just watched your spirea renewal video again and will be cutting several of my Little Princess plants back this week, on the warm day! I also have 21 boxwoods to tend every year! It takes many days to tidy up all of them, but they are beautiful and so far, the many resident deer leave them alone. Your boxwood video is great, too. It confirmed what I somehow knew about not just sheering the plants into balls – with no inner growth. Your video helped me define my procedure for pruning them.
I can’t thank you enough for our landscape expertise, and the warmth that comes out of your blog entries.
Love your dear pup. Makes me miss my lovable yellow lab, Jeep. Hope you are doing well this spring. I loved the Easter egg dye assembly line – building family memories.
I would think you’d be colder than 6b by the Great Lakes. I’m right on the edge of 6a and 6b so I go with 6a. Better safe then sorry. Your spirea are going to love you for whacking them back. Since I was a kid my dream dog has been a yellow lab. They seem very mellow and friendly. When we saw a picture of Theo we fell in love. He’s a mellow and very loving “little” boy. My wife gets all the credit for the Easter eggs. She has is down to a science. We’ve tried fancier Easter egg concoctions but the kids like the basic food dye dipping of the eggs. I think it’s great! Thanks for sharing about yourself and Jeep. Have a wonderful Spring!
