Purple Wisteria Vine

Wisteria – Mother Nature Trumps Man Every Time

Last week I saw a wisteria in full bloom weeping from a blasted ledge.  No matter how hard I try to create beautiful landscapes mother nature can beat me without trying.

Weeping Wisteria
The wisteria starts at the top of the cliff and weeps like a waterfall. It’s stunning.

If you’re driving down Whitney Avenue in Trumbull, CT in early-May keep your eyes open for the wisteria on the ledge between the entrance to Indian Ledge Park and the Route 25 overpass.

Love the wisteria but find that it is a pity that the flowers are only for such a short time and before any foliage. My preference for a wisteria type flower is Western Australian Native Wisteria (Hardenbergia comptoniana). I am not sure if it is possible to get the seeds or plants in North America. If so it is well worth looking for.
If this link works I am sure that you will agree.

I agree that the flowers are such a short time. I’ve never planted a wisteria because they get huge. I wouldn’t want a client to lose their house to one. Thanks for sharing the link to the Western Australian Native Wisteria. It looks like a cool plant but I think it’s too cold here.
